Arken Around the world in 60 dishes - Trying out food from different parts of the world
During the spring term of 2025 - Kårkafé Arken takes you on a culinary journey around the world, where for a week each month, you can enjoy cuisines from different parts of the world, without leaving home.
In January, we already explored the first destination of Arken Around the World – South America! Some of the week’s favorite dishes were Chivito and Doubles. Even the desserts were more popular than we could have imagined!
In February, Arken continued its journey around the world and landed in Africa! Some highlights of the week were Efo Riro, Chipsi Mayai and Kabkabou. The chocolate malva-pudding that practically melted in your mouth was such a success, that it will definetly be seen again in the restaurant.
In March, we visited Australasia in a flavourful way though classics like Reef n' beef, and also introduced some newer flavour combinations through the Kiwi Burger and Gudeg.
The mastermind behind this concept is Kårkafé Arken’s own James. James has been working at Kårkaféerna for almost two years, and with this concept he wants all of you to get as excited about food as he is, and learn about new culinary cultures along the way.
“It’s an exciting challenge, and I am also learning as we go. This really encourages me to study different food cultures, and figuring out how to recreate those as authentically as possible with the budget we have, and with ingredients available here”
What’s next?
After South America, Africa, Australasia, and Europe, we still have North America, and Asia left to visit before the summer. The menu for each themed week will be published in advance on both our website and Instagram, so you can get acquainted with the dishes beforehand.

James has worked for Kårkaféerna for almost two years now. The idea of Arken Around the World started with James wanting to bring in some new dishes here and there, and the idea grew bigger from there. Almost all of our guest favorites around the restaurants are those dishes that different cooks in each restaurant had the idea for. James’ personal goal at Kårkafe Arken is to take it forward, and away from routine - making it exciting for customers to come back to experience new things. Making food as exciting for the customers, as it is to James.
