Information for freshmen

Kårkaféerna consists of four lunchrestaurants: Kårkafé Arken, Aurum, ASA and Kåren. Kårkaféerna is operated by the economy sector of the Student Union of Åbo Akademi University. The company is owned by students and alumni. We offer affordable, tasty and healthy studentlunches every day. Our restaurants are usually filled with laughter. To us, eating is more than filling up on energy – it is a chance to meet friends and share the highlights of our day.

BRING YOUR STUDENT CARD

To get subsidized student lunch you need to show your student card (plastic with a validation sticker or the Frank-app). Keep your student card visible already before getting to the register! Order your student card or dowload Frank in time. Before you get your card you can show a receipt or Student Union fee payment confirmation. A certification of you studying at Åbo Akademi University is not enough. The receipt is valid until 30th of September/31st of January. After this you need to show us the student card or a temporary meal subsidy card from The social insurance institution of Finland (read more at: https://www.kela.fi/web/en/meal-subsidy).

AT THE RESTAURANTS

One glas of milk or juice is included in the lunch price. You can drink as much water as you like.

You can buy lunch coffee for a special price at lunchtime.

Choose one of the meals.

Notice eventual messages about amounts and extra prices connected to a certain meal (at the glas counter).

We work towards less food waste every day in our restaurants. Contribute to this by not throwing away food!

TAKE AWAY

From 1.1.2023 you can still buy your meals to go but the price has changed to 7,40€. The take away box costs 0,50€. We recommend that you bring your own lunch box for take away.
